13 years of deadly 26/11 Mumbai attacks

India still remembers with deep sorrow the November 26, 2008, massacre in Mumbai. The President of India Ram Nath Kovind paid homage to the martyrs and the victims of the attacks and said the nation will always be grateful to the security personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted saying that the Mumbai attacks were a cowardly act and he also paid homage to the ones who lost their lives in those attacks. Union Minister Piyush Goyal also paid tribute to the personnel and civilians who were killed in the 26/11 attacks.

During these attacks, 9 terrorists were neutralized, and the lone survivor Ajmal Kasab was caught and sentenced to death at Yerwada Central Jail in Pune, Maharashtra in 2012. Terrorists attacked prominent places like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Mahal Hotel, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital, and Nariman House Jewish Community Center. Total of 166 people were killed including 18 security personnel.

The mastermind behind these attacks in Mumbai is believed to be Hafiz Saeed who is the chief of the terror outfit Jamaat-ud-Dawah.
