According to the official records provided at the Lok Sabha, thirty-one people were killed in 15 military helicopters accidents since March 2017. The records also include last week’s Mi 17 V5 crash that killed CDS General Bipin Rawat and 13 others on board.
Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt shared the details of all helicopter accidents in the last five years in all three services. He was replying to a question. The helicopters met with accidents involved four Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), four Cheetah, two ALH (weapon system integrated) versions, three Mi-17 V5, and Mi-17, and a Chetak.
As per the data, seven choppers each from the Indian Army and IAF and one from the Indian Navy were involved in the accidents. The data also showed that 31 people were killed while 20 were injured in these accidents.
