Two militants were gunned down on Tuesday in a fresh encounter with security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Security forces carried out a cordon and search operation in the Feeripora area of Shopian district in south Kashmir after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there, a police official stated. He said that the forces were carrying out searches in the area and militants started to fire upon them.
The security forces in retaliation fired upon the militants ensuing a gunfight. More information is awaited.
Meanwhile, in the Shopian district three terrorists were neutralized by the security forces last evening in the Imamsahib area. Also, in the Poonch district, five soldiers were martyred on Monday in an encounter.
