The Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL) has again achieved another milestone by completing the 200th ship for the Indian Navy through a Rs 1000 crore modernization of the yard’s infrastructure.
Delivery of the 200th vessel named Balbir to the Indian Navy was organised at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on Friday. A company official says that during the first sea trials, the vessel exceeded contractual requirements in terms of performance.
Balbir had been built on schedule despite COVID-19 situation. Cdr. JP Gupta, Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), HSL congratulated all the officers, staff, and workmen.
HSL’s Chairman and MD Cmde Hemant Khatri had recently expressed confidence that the yard has rich potential for high-value construction and will meet the requirements of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard in the future.
