5 militants were gunned down in two encounters that took place in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. TRF commander was also among those militants who were killed by the security forces.
The Resistance Front (TRF) commander Afaq Sikander was among the 5 militants who were neutralised by the security personnel on Wednesday in two encounters in the Kulgam district, said J&K police.
The gunfight broke out in the Goplapora and Pombay areas of the South Kashmir district. A cordon and search operation in the Gopalpora area was launched by the security personnel following a tip-off about the presence of militants, said the police.
“Terrorist Commander of proscribed #terror outfit TRF Afaq Sikander killed in #encounter,” the IGP tweeted. He further said that three militants were killed in another gunfight in the Pombay area of the district.
