Tajikistan which shares a border with war-torn Afghanistan is the latest to have refused to recognize the Taliban government. Earlier Kazakhstan had denied acknowledging the Taliban leadership in Afghanistan.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is also a close ally of India, claimed that over 6000 terrorists are present near the southern borders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization countries which is the northeastern part of Afghanistan. He said that the number of camps and training centers for these terrorists are 40.
ET has learned from Russia’s counter-terrorism experts from Moscow that the Afghan Taliban have organized the deployment of armed militants and suicide bombers near former Soviet borders in northern Afghanistan. The experts said that the Afghan Taliban are not averse to meddling Kazakhstan.
Like India, Tajikistan, and other Central Asian countries besides Iran, Russia refuses to recognize the Taliban. Moscow remains concerned about encroachments by terrorists and illegal migrants into Central Asia and Eurasia.
