Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his wishes to all the air warriors and their families on Air Force Day and said that the Indian Air Force is steadfast in its service to the nation.
“Greetings and warm wishes to all Indian Air Force personnel and their families on the 89th anniversary of this indomitable force. Proud of our air warriors for responding to varied challenges with alacrity and resilience and being steadfast in the service to the nation,” Singh tweeted.
The celebration of the 89th Air Force Day was held at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad. Chief of the Indian Air Force and senior officials of the three-armed forces also attended the event.
The IAF day parade included formation with call signs related to the places and people involved in the 1971 war in which India defeated Pakistan and led to the creation of Bangladesh.
The flypast included heritage aircraft, modern transport aircraft, and frontline fighter aircraft. The ceremony concluded at 10:52 am.
IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari awarded Chief of Air Staff Unit Citations to three units, including those which carried out operations at the Pakistan border post-February 26, 2019 Balakot airstrikes and in Ladakh during border skirmishes. The three units are 2225 Squadron Det Air Force, 47 Squadron, and 116 Helicopter Unit.
