Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt on Tuesday said that India has become an exporter of defence equipment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The minister was in Dharchula and Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand for the Vijay Sankalp Yatra conducted by the BJP.
India has taken great strides over the last seven years to become self-sufficient in manufacturing defence equipment, as well as exporting it to 72 countries, Ajay Bhatt said at the election rally.
“The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the leading research institute in the field of defence in the world, has listed India among the top 25 countries that export defence equiment,” he said.
The minister lauded the work done for improving road connectivity on the Indo-China border, including a recently-constructed road from Ghatiabagr to Llipulekh.
In addition to Ajay Bhatt, Uttarakhand ministers Bishan Singh Chufal and Arvind Pandey and Almora MP Ajay Tamta also spoke at the rally.
