PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised the exemplary efforts of the Indian armed forces and said their perseverance and courage were outstanding on the occasion of the Armed Forces Flag Day.
“On Armed Forces Flag Day, I would like to acknowledge once again the exemplary contributions of our armed forces. Their perseverance and courage are outstanding,” PM tweeted.
The Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on December 7 every year since 1949. This day has significance as it is meant to honor martyrs, and the valiant soldiers serving the nation. Usually on this day, funds are raised from Indian citizens which is contributed to the welfare of the Indian Armed Forces.
On this day flags are distributed to the people of India in exchange of a small donation. The government of India (GoI) established the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund to help in the welfare and rehabilitation of ex-servicemen (ESM).
