The Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane held a telephonic conversation with the army chief of Australia Lt General Rick Burr regarding enhancement of bilateral defence cooperation.
“General MM Naravane #COAS had telephonic interaction with Lieutenant General Rick Burr, Chief of Army, #AustralianArmy and discussed issues of bilateral defence cooperation,” the official Twitter handle of the Indian Army wrote.
General Naravane and Lt Gen Rick Burr discussed ways to expand cooperation between the armies of the two friendly countries. The defence and strategic ties between the two countries have been on an upswing in the last few years.
In June 2020, India and Australia enhanced their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership and signed a landmark deal for reciprocal access to military bases for logistics support.
