The armed forces are preparing for future conflicts and are already seeing the first signs of them, Army Chief General Naravane said. India will face collusive activities in the grey zone, but it will remain short of full-scale conflict, Gen Naravane said.
Regarding future warfare, he mentioned China’s deployment of troops on the Ladakh border amidst the pandemic in 2020 as an example to demonstrate that there could be a variety of security threats in the future, including non-contract zones.
“Our adversaries shall continue with their efforts, to achieve strategic aims, short of conflict, by use of grey zone activities, in the political, military, and economic domains, and do so in a collusive manner,” army chief said at the Centre for Land Warfare Studies.
Though the Army chief did not discuss China or Pakistan directly, other military leaders have spoken eloquently in the past about the combined threat of two nuclear-armed neighbors.
