Army takes up case of abducted Arunachal boy with PLA

An Indian Army hotline was used to contact the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and request the return of the kidnapped Arunachal teenager Miram Taron. As this is the second incident of a similar nature since 2020, China is utilizing this tactic to reinforce its claim to Arunachal Pradesh.

Defence ministry PRO in Tezpur tweeted, “17 yr old youth Mirzam Taron of Zido, Arunachal Pradesh was reportedly captured by PLA across the LAC. On receipt of info, the Indian Army immediately contacted PLA through a hotline. Assistance from PLA has been sought to locate and return him as per protocol.”

Arunachal CM Pema Khandu told media reporters in Itanagar that the defence ministry has taken up the matter and he is positive that the youth will be released and return to his village.

The health minister of Arunachal Pradesh said that the incident took place on January 18 and the youth belonged to Zido and was a hunter. He also showed hope in the Centre government and Indian army that the youth will come back soon.
