Assam Rifles inducts about 850 female cadets

A passing out parade (POP) was held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTCS) in Shokhuvi in Dimapur district of Nagaland on Wednesday that saw 868 new Rifle women recruits marching in perfect rhythm.

After undergoing 44 weeks of grueling training in battle craft, weapons handling, jungle lane shooting, and other counter-insurgency operations specialization, the special attestation parade marked the culmination of 44 weeks of training.

“This POP was unique as it had only Mahila recruits and the parade was led by Major Sita Shelke, a lady officer posted at ARTCS,” an Assam Rifles official said.

The POP was reviewed by Arunachal Pradesh governor, Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra, Director General Assam Rifles Lt Gen PC Nair, and other top officers of the Indian army and Assam Rifles.
