The bodies of all the remaining 10-armed forces personnel killed in the Mi 17 V5 crash that also killed the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat have been identified through DNA tests. Six of the bodies were handed over to the families of the victims said officials on Saturday.
The personnel whose bodies were identified and were sent to their families are Junior Warrant Officer (JWO) Pradeep, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, Junior Warrant Officer Pratap, Squadron Leader K Singh, Lance Naik B Sai Teja, and Lance Naik Vivek Kumar. The mortals of the remaining four soldiers will be handed over to their families on Sunday.
The mortal remains of Havildar Satpal Rai, Naik Gursewak Singh, and Naik Jitendra Kumar will be airlifted to their home towns by military aircraft.
The last rites of Lt Col Harjinder Singh will take place at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi on Sunday, where General Rawat, his wife, and Brigadier Lidder were cremated on Friday.
