BrahMos Aerospace has proposed to build a Rs 300 crore production facility in Lucknow for the BrahMos Next Generation (BrahMos-NG) Missile Project, as part of its expansion plan.
A team led by the director general of BrahMos, Sudhir K Mishra, met UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday and briefed him of the plans, requesting a land parcel of 200 acres in Lucknow.
The project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for more than 5,500 technical workers, as well as for more than 10,000 skilled, semi-skilled, and non-skilled workers said a release by the government.
Lucknow is one of the six nodes of the defence corridor in UP, the other being Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Chitrakoot, and Aligarh.
BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia that produces the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile- BrahMos.
