The Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) delivered three Floating Border Out-Post (FBOPs) vessels to the Border Security Force (BSF). With these three FBOP vessels, CSL has delivered six out of nine vessels to the BSF.
“The vessels which were flagged off on Republic Day from Kochi reached the area of operations for its deployment at Sundarbans near Indo-Bangladesh border waters. These vessels are designed in-house by CSL & classed by the Indian Register of Shipping. Each FBOP is designed with stowage arrangements for four fast patrol boats, which can be launched and hoisted using its own davit system,” the CSL stated in a release.
The delivery protocol documents were signed by CSL General Manager A Shivakumar and Kumal Mazumdar, the DIG of the BSF, at a ceremony held in Kolkata.
The FBOPs are 46-meter in length and are designed for the Water Wing of the BSF. In addition to providing petrol, freshwater, and provisions to the smaller boats and serving as a floating base for the fast patrol boats, these vessels will also be used to patrol both the eastern and western borders of the country.
