CDS Gen Rawat and his wife cremated with full military honor on Friday

The mortal remains of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Mrs. Madhulika Rawat were cremated with full military honors in the capital on Friday. Senior government dignitaries, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and top military brass, also attended the funeral of the CDS. 

The CDS was given a 17-gun salute and more than 800 service personnel attended the funeral at the Brar Square on Friday. General Rawat’s residence was thronged by thousands of visitors in the morning to pay him the last tribute.  

The mortal remain of the top leader was carried by six three-star officers, two each from the three services following his status as the tri-services chief. Top military leaders from friendly nations like Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh also came to pay their tribute to General Rawat.  

Out of the 13 victims of the Mi 17 V5, only 4 were identified including General Bipin Rawat, Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier Lidder, and Lance Naik Vivek Kumar. The same day in the morning Brigadier Lidder was cremated with full military honor at the Brar Square.
