China moves H-6K bomber closer to Line of Actual Control

In a report published in the leading Hong Kong daily South China Morning Post (SCMP), it says that China has flown a strategic H-6K bomber along its border with India in an effort to prevent tensions from escalating.

“To mark the PLA Air Force’s 72nd anniversary on November 11, state broadcaster China Central Television aired footage that included a brief shot of an H-6K flying over a mountain range, indicating the aircraft had been sent to the Himalayas,” the report said.

The post quoted military experts saying that the move is meant as a warning to India. As the move takes place for the first time in the current circumstances, India is preparing to deploy its first squadron of the sophisticated S 400 along its border.

The H-6Ks are usually based in Shaanxi province, but have been temporarily stationed in Kashgar in Xinjiang’s western neighboring region since last year, according to a Chinese military source.
