Chinese President Xi Jinping warned US President Joe Biden that supporting Taiwan independence would be “like playing with fire,” state media said on Tuesday, as the two leaders held a long-awaited video conference.
“Taiwanese authorities have repeatedly tried to rely on the US for independence. Some people in the US intend to use Taiwan to control China. This is very dangerous and is like playing with fire, and those who play with fire will get burned,” Chinese president was quoted by state media.
The meeting that occurred on Tuesday morning, according to the official Xinhua news agency, was frank, constructive, substantive, and fruitful.
