The contingent of the Indian Army has left for the Maldives to participate in the Indo-Maldives joint exercise ‘Ex-Ekuverin’ which will be held from December 6 to 19 2021.
“The Exercise aims to enhance operational synergy between both Armies in the conduct of counter-terrorism operations,” tweeted Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army).
For the past few years, the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Forces have been conducting Exercise Ekuverin, which means ‘Friend’ in the Dhiveni language.
It will also contribute to improving synergies and interoperability between the Armed Forces of both nations with respect to understanding transnational terrorism both on and off the coasts. Participants will share best practices and experiences with conducting counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations.
Furthermore, in addition to rigorous training, the joint military exercise will include cultural and sports activities to enhance defence cooperation and bilateral relations.
