
A CRPF soldier opened fire upon his colleagues which killing four personnel and injuring three others in a camp of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The incident took place in the wee hours in the CRPF camp of the 50th battalion in Linganopalli village under Maraiguda police station of the area of the Sukma district, which is located about 400 km away from capital Raipur, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said.
Constable Reetesh Ranjan open fire at his colleagues with his service rifle, an Ak-47, the official said. The injured personnel were immediately taken to the nearby hospital in the Badrachalam area of neighboring Telangana where doctors declared four of the injured soldiers dead on arrival.
The personnel killed were identified as constables Rajmani Kumar Yadav, Rajib Mondal, Dhanji, and Dharmendra Kumar. “The motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained and an investigation is on into the incident,” the official said. The accused constable was immediately held and his interrogation is underway.
