Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday reported that 199 terrorists are operating in Kashmir at present comprising 110 locals and 89 foreigners. A senior CRPF officer, citing an intelligence report, said, “Total 199 terrorists are active in the valley that includes 110 locals and 89 foreigners.”
The official also stated that in 2021 a total of 11 CRPF soldiers have been killed in an encounter with terrorists, out of which, three were in Jammu and Kashmir and eight were in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
He further informed that in the last seven, CRPF officials have arrested a total of 27 LWEs that including 13 in Chhattisgarh, 3 in Bihar, and 11 in Jharkhand.
At present, around 65000 CRPF personnel are posted in the Kashmir valley and 25 adjunct CRPF companies were introduced after the lethal attack on civilians in Kashmir.
