Crush Baluchistan freedom movement, new ISI chief’s first priority

The prime priority of newly appointed Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) chief, Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum, is to crush the Baluchistan freedom movement.

Lt Gen Anjum replaced Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, who was seen with the Taliban after the fall of Kabul on August 15. Lt Gen Hameed was heading the spy agency since June 2019 and now, he has been appointed Commander of the Peshawar Corps.

Lt Gen Anjum had earlier worked in Baluchistan as Inspector General of the Frontier Corps Baluchistan for a while and has been infamous for stalling and disrupting freedom movement in the region through the militia.

He had also served as the commander of Karachi Corps and it was in 2019 that he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. Lt Gen Anjum belongs to the Pakistan Military Academy’s (PMA) 78th Long Course and the Punjab Regiment. He had also served as the commandant of the Command and Staff College in Quetta and was also the commander of a brigade in Kurram Agency, Hangu.
