The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Tuesday successfully flight tested the Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM). The MPATGM has been designed and developed in India and it is a low weighing “fire and forget” missile.
The defence ministry in a statement said, “The Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully flight tested the final deliverable configuration of Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) on January 11.” The anti-tank missile was flight-tested in its final “deliverable configuration”, the ministry added.
The missile met all its objectives and it has miniaturised infrared imaging seeker and advanced avionics for onboard control and guidance. The performance of the missile has been proven for the maximum range the test trials done before.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated and lauded DRDO for the remarkable performance of the MPATGM and he also said that it is one of the major steps towards the goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in the development of advanced technology-based defence systems.
DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy congratulated and praised the entire team involved in this anti-tank missile project.
