Lt Gen RP Kalita, Commander of the Eastern Army, visited forward areas along the Sikkim border and reviewed operational readiness. Lt Gen Kalita visited Sukna in Siliguri.
He was briefed by Lt Gen Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Trishakti Corps on the prevailing situation of the formations. Lt Gen Kalita also met Ganga Prasad, Governor of Sikkim and Biswanath Somadder, Chief Justice of Sikkim.
During the meeting, issues pertaining to the present security situation along the borders and various facets of the ongoing civil-military cooperation were deliberated.
Furthermore, the Army Commander visited forward areas in Sikkim, where he was briefed by senior commanders on the ground about the situation along the border. Throughout his interaction with the soldiers, Lt Gen Kalita praised them for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to maintaining round-the-clock vigilance in inhospitable terrain and harsh weather conditions.
