The zeal among the young women about joining the Indian Armed Forces through National Defence Academy can be observed as more than 1.77 lakh females applied for NDA exams, as per the records that the government showed in Parliament on Monday.
Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, in a written reply, answered a question in the Upper House that the total number of applications for the NDA exams received was 5,75,856 and out of these the female applicants were 1,77,654.
The top court of the country gave an order in August this year that paved the way for the entry of females into the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA).
Ajay Bhatt said that necessary infrastructure and facilities for the training of the female candidates are in place at the academy. “Medical standards have been notified in the UPSC notification. Physical standards will be finalised before commencement of training,” he added.
