According to sources, the Indian Air Force (IAF) plans to demonstrate its operational capabilities at the Pokhran field firing range in Jaisalmer on February 10 with a firepower demonstration named Vayu Shakti 2022.
Rafale and Apache helicopters are expected to participate in this day and night war game. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are expected to witness this drill.
There have been preparations, and according to sources 150 different aircraft will take to the skies, including Sukhoi 30s, Mirage 2000s, Jaguars, MiG-21 Bison (updated), Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), attacking helicopters, UAVs and high-tech AWACS.
Transport aircraft like AN-32, Embraer and IL-76, IL-78, and C-130J, and attack helicopters Mi-17 V5 and Mi-35 would also be displayed.
In response to contemporary threats in the modern war arena, the IAF will demonstrate its attack and defence capabilities through a range of demonstrations. Exercise Vayu Shakti is conducted once in three years.
