
In the Arabian Sea, 10 Pakistani maritime security personnel have opened fire on an Indian fishing boat, killing one crew member and injuring another. Gujarat Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the individuals.
The FIR was filed on Sunday night at Navi Bandar police station in Porbandar, which has territorial jurisdiction beyond 12 nautical miles off the Gujarat coast, under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), and 114 (abettor present when offence is committed), and relevant provisions of the Arms Act, the official said.
The FIR states that ten unknown Pakistani Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) personnel, five on each boat, opened fire at the Indian fishing boat ‘Jalpari’ at approximately 4 pm on Saturday, killing a crew member, Sridhar Ramesh Chamre.
Another fisherman, Dilip Solanki was injured in the firing. Solanki, in his complaint, said that seven fishermen on board ‘Jalpari’ were doing fishing in the Indian territorial waters when 10 PMSA personal on two boats opened fire, killing one and injuring another.
