First long-range guided bomb of India test-fired successfully

A joint team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and DRDO successfully flight-tested India’s first indigenously developed Long-Range Bomb (LRB) from a Sukhoi-30 fighter jet over Balasore, Odisha.

The LR Bomb with a range of 100 kilometers was fired from IAF’s Su-30 from an altitude of 10 km. The bomb has been indigenously developed by DRDO’s Research Center Imarat (RCI).

LRB hit a target range inside the sea at around 11:00 am using laser guidance and met all mission objectives successfully.

This successful attempt makes India capable of staying well within its territory and hitting enemy targets at 100 Km with high precision. The testing of LRB comes a day after the country tested DRDO Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon (SAAW) from the Pokhran range in Rajasthan.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended and congratulated DRDO, IAF, and other teams associated with the successful flight test of the LR Bomb.
