Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane left for Israel on a five-day official tour on Sunday. The objective of this visit is to bolster India’s defence and security cooperation with Israel.
Naravane’s visit comes following a trip by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar to Israel to explore paths to enhancing strategic relations. The ex-IAF chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria also visited Israel in August for an official tour.
“General MM Naravane #COAS proceeded on a five-day visit to #Israel. The visit aims to further strengthen strategic defence cooperation between both countries,” official handle of the Indian Army tweeted.
As per officials, the army chief will hold wide-ranging talks with the top military leaders of the Jewish nation on boosting military partnership between the two countries.
Over the last few years, Israel has consistently supplied India with different weapons systems, missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles, but most of the transactions have taken place behind closed doors.
