Place of Birth | Hoshiarpur, Punjab |
Rank | Gunner |
Unit | 34 RR |
Date of Martyrdom | 1st April 2018 |
On 31st Mar 2018, their unit got specific inputs of some 5-6 terrorists hiding in the Shopian district. Then a decision was made to launch an operation to nab them and proper planning was made by the commander. The team comprises soldiers of CRPF, 34 RR, and J&K police. Our security forces cordoned the suspected area. After sensing danger, terrorists fired upon the security forces, which led to the start of an encounter between the two parties. The terrorists were in an advantageous position as they were hiding in a multi-Storey building. It was difficult for the forces to neutralize them by just firing from outside. So, they decided to challenge terrorists by entering the building in a close faceoff, which was a very difficult task, but our brave soldiers went on to go for it. That move got to complete the operation successfully by killing all of four terrorists, but unfortunately, we also lost three of our soldiers from 34 RR, Gunner Nilesh Singh, Gunner Arvinder Kumar, and Sepoy Hetram. They initially got serious injuries and were taken to hospital, but there they succumbed to their injuries
Gunner Arvinder is remembered as a brave soldier who was always ready for any operation. We shall always remain in debt of him.
