HAL carries out successful trials on Hindustan-228 commercial plane

Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said in Rajya Sabha that HAL has successfully conducted testing on indigenous Hindustan-228 which is based on the Do-228.  

HAL carried out the ground run and Low Speed Taxi Trials (LSTT) on Hindustan-228 which will be first commercial plane made in India. All the testings were done in consonance with the DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation). 

HAL had earlier partnered with Alliance Air to dry lease two India-made Do-228 aircraft in the northeast. According to the state-run HAL, the aircraft has the abilities of short take-off and landing, ability to land and take-off from semi-prepared runways.  

The Hindustan-228, a 19-seater, has been designed with features that it can have many roles like VIP transport, air ambulance, and recreational activities like para jumping, air surveillance, photography, and cargo applications.
