Havildar Amarjeet Kumar belonged to Dighawlia village in the Siwan district of Bihar. Havildar Amarjeet Kumar joined the army in the year 2005. After serving for some years with his parent unit, he was deputed to serve with the 44 RR Battalion, deployed in J&K for counter-insurgency operations.

During 2019, Havildar Amarjeet Kumar’s unit, 44 RR was deployed in the Pulwama district of J&K. On 17th June 2019, Havildar Amarjeet Kumar and his comrades of 44 RR were tasked with an operation that needed them to move by road in a convoy. As the convoy reached the Arihal area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the militants in the pre-planned move attacked the convoy by an IED blast. Havildar Amarjeet and five other soldiers got seriously injured in the blast. The troops immediately launched the counter operation to sanitize the area and made arrangements to shift the injured soldiers to the Military hospital. However, Havildar Amarjeet Kumar later succumbed to his injuries on 18th June and was martyred.
Havildar Amarjeet Kumar was a valiant soldier who laid down his life in the service of the nation. Hav Amarjeet Kumar is survived by his wife and two sons.
