Havildar Kuldeep Singh was born in the year 1983, and he hailed from Raju Dwakhari village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district, Punjab. He joined the Indian Army in the year 2002, at the age of 19. He was recruited into 15 Sikh LI of the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment. During October 2020, Havildar Kuldeep’s unit was posted in Kupwara district of J&K. The unit troops were responsible for manning the forward posts in the Nowgam sector along the LoC.

On 1st October 2020, Pakistani Army troops started unprovoked firing along the LoC from across the border in Nowgam sector. During this time Havildar Kuldeep was manning the forward posts. The Indian Army also gave befitting reply to Pakistan’s aggression. Consequently, a heavy exchange of fire ensued which continued intermittently for several hours. However, during this period Havildar Kuldeep along with Rifleman Shubham Sharma and four other soldiers got severely injured. They were immediately taken to the base hospital but Havidar Kuldeep and Rifleman Shubham succumbed to their injuries and got martyred.
Havildar Kuldeep is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
