IAF looking at procuring 350 aircraft over next two decades, says IAF chief

Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said on Wednesday that the Indian Air Force is looking at acquiring 350 aircraft in the next 2 decades. “Looking at the northern neighbour, we have to have niche technologies which must be built-in house by our own industry for reasons of security,” IAF chief said. 

During a conference on the Indian aerospace sector, Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria while addressing also spoke about the need to develop asymmetric capabilities to make IAF’s overall strength more robust given the challenges from China. 

Air Force Chief while pressing upon the need for India to become self-reliant or ‘Atmanribhar’ said that the Indian Air Force is looking at procuring around 350 aircraft from within the country in the next two decades.  

IAF chief also added that the Tejas light combat aircraft project has filled confidence in the Indian aerospace industry which now has huge potential to grow in the future.
