India and Philippines few inches close to finalising BrahMos deal

The Indian government is expected to soon get export order from Philippines for BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, in what could be a major success to India’s defence export push.

“India and Philippines are in an advanced stage of negotiations over the sale of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. Export order likely to be placed soon. DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace together have been pushing hard for exports of this missile to friendly foreign countries for the last few months,” government sources told ANI.

Besides the Philippines, other friendly nations are also negotiating at an advanced stage with India about the missile system. As a result, India can expect more export orders for the missile system.

The BrahMos missile is also getting more capable due to the additional range and other modern technologies getting integrated to it. Senior scientist Atul Dinkar Rane has been appointed the new head of the BrahMos Aerospace Limited and he has worked with the firm since its initial days.
