A short-range surface-to-surface guided ballistic missile, dubbed Pralay, was successfully tested off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday, DRDO sources said.
The solid-fuel battlefield missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is based on the Prithvi Defence Vehicle from the Indian ballistic missile program.
According to sources, the missile, launched around 10:30 a.m. from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island, successfully met all its objectives. A battery of tracking instruments monitored its trajectory along the coastline, as per sources.
The “Pralay” is a short-range, surface-to-surface missile with a range between 350 and 500 kilometers and a payload capacity of 500 to 1000 kilograms.
