India financially helps Vietnamese defence ministry set up IT system

The Indian Government has provided the US $ 5million as non-refundable aid to assist the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence to build an information technology (IT) system. The IT system is established at the military software park under the center of IT and foreign languages at the Telecommunication University.

Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien received the aid at a ceremony held in Hanoi on 11th August on behalf of the Ministry of National Defence. Lt Gen Chien said that the assistance is of significance as it contributes to raising the center’s capacity and facilitating high-quality human resources development in Vietnam at large.

Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma said that despite the impacts of the COVID pandemic, the two friendly nations have worked to bolster and expand their defence cooperation, and implemented aid and credit packages the Indian Government has granted to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence. He described the IT project as a symbol for cooperation between the two nations in high-tech, and a base to expand their partnership in IT and digitalisation in the future.
