
India’s ambassador in Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay highlighted the importance of the close partnership between the Indian Navy and Sri Lankan Navy, as he handed over training aids worth 22 LKR (about Rs 81 lacs) to Sri Lankan Navy for capacity building.
High Commissioner Baglay was on a visit to the Northern and Eastern Provinces when he officially handed over the training aids to the Commander Eastern Naval Area of the Sri Lanka Navy at a ceremony held on Sunday at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) Trincomalee.
During the ceremony, the High Commissioner reasserted the importance of the close association between the two navies as an imperative part of the overall bilateral engagement. He also handed over Kindle e-book readers and books to the library of the Naval and Maritime Academy.
