India ready for largest naval exercise at Visakhapatnam

The naval exercise ‘MILAN 2022’ is slated to be held in two phases from February 26 to March 4 at Visakhapatnam. During the sea phase, which started on March 1, submarines will be hunted, planes, helicopters, and warships will operate in the Bay of Bengal. 

Some of the nations have confirmed and others will do it anytime. Expectedly on the invite list are the Quadrilateral countries, the US, Australia, Japan, and India. The US and Russia have confirmed their participation.

This exercise is organized biennially but, in 2020 the exercise was called off due to Covid pandemic. It is the first such multi-nation meeting of this scale since the beginning of the military standoff in eastern Ladakh, and it is the first such meeting since the Quad established an Indo-Pacific cooperation agenda.
