
A high-level delegation from New Delhi will visit Chabahar in 2022 as it seeks to boost its presence in the strategically located port, which it assisted in expanding as a gateway to Afghanistan and Central Asia.
On Tuesday, the second meeting of the Trilateral Working Group between India, Iran, and Uzbekistan on the joint use of Chabahar Port took place virtually.
Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, India, Dr. Ali Akbar Safaei, Secretary, Deputy Minister and Managing Director, Iranian Ports and Marine Organization, and Abdossamad Mumenof, Secretary, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, jointly chaired the meeting.
India made a presentation on the Chabahar Port operations during the meeting and informed that the Indian company, India Ports Global Limited (IPGL), through its wholly owned subsidiary, India Ports Global Chabahar Free Zone (IPGCFZ), took over the operation of the Chabahar Port as of 24.12.2018.
