In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Indian Army said it has purchased ‘mini remote piloted’ aircraft systems that will be used to enhance its high-altitude surveillance capabilities. Part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance overall military readiness, the Army has been focusing significantly on expanding its surveillance capability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
“As part of ongoing modernisation & induction of niche & emerging technologies at tactical level, #IndianArmy has acquired ‘Mini Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems’. These #RPAs will further enhance the surveillance capabilities in High Altitude Areas,” the official Twitter handle of the Indian Army wrote.
The Indian army has initiated a number of measures to bolster its surveillance mechanism along the LAC following the eastern Ladakh standoff.
