Indian Army signs deal worth Rs 471.41 crore with BDL

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and the Indian Army sealed a deal for renovation of IGLA-1M missiles, BDL said on Thursday. This entire contract will cost around Rs 471.41 crore.  

A fresh lease of life will be issued to the missile for a duration of 10 years following the refurbishment process. Apart from conducting refurbishments, BDL specializes in manufacturing and supplying guided missiles and associated equipment, underwater weapons, airborne weapons, ground support equipment, and product life cycle management. 

Additionally, the company has developed its own Research & Development (R&D) capabilities, focused primarily on design and engineering. The company said in a release it is incorporating emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence into the development of future weapons for the military. 

BDL has also forayed into global market by offering its products to friendly countries, for example it has already exported Torpedoes to a friendly foreign nation.
