The Indian Army is doing everything to step up its surveillance capabilities in the Eastern sector of Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the face of increasingly aggressive PLA. The army is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled software to detect and track movements of Chinese patrol and also integrating a range of ground and air-based sensors that detects across the LAC deeply.
Road infrastructure, especially at Tawang, is also being upgraded with a network of bridges and tunnels that will take away dependence on-air assets to support troops in all-weather conditions.
Senior army officers said that along with all available surveillance assets being used, young officers have also been tasked to create bespoke systems fulfilling all the requirements for the Tibet border.
“Without any increase in deployment, we are using technology to increase our awareness of the situation. Our focus is the fusion of sensors, our ground, and air-based sensors are being fused and it’s a constant effort to improve capabilities,” says Major General Zubin Minwalla, the 5 Mountain Division commander based in Rupa Arunachal Pradesh, that looks after the defence of Tawang.
