Indian Navy ready to commission INS Visakhapatnam today

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the Chief Guest at the commissioning ceremony of INS Visakhapatnam, the first ship of Project 15B, informed the Indian Navy on Saturday. 

The commissioning ceremony is slated to be held on November 21 at the Naval Dockyard of Mumbai. Captain Birendra Singh Bains, Commanding Officer (designate) of INS Visakhapatnam said that the Indian Navy is all set to commission INS Visakhapatnam and after commissioning also the warship will undergo a few more trials. 

Whereas, INS Vela, the fourth submarine of the Kalvari Class, will be commissioned on November 25 and the chief guest will be Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh. 

According to the release of defence ministry, the commissioning of both INS Visakhapatnam and INS Vela are significant milestones showcasing the indigenous ability of Indian firms. This will surely upgrade our capacity and firepower to address the threats both above the waters and under the waters.
