
Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Chief of Naval Staff, said the Indian Navy is fully confident of protecting India’s maritime interests and is focusing on acquiring platforms given the possible security challenges the country may face.
At a press conference, the navy chief stated that the details of the proposed maritime command are still being worked on and suggested that its basic structure could be ready by next year.
He also said that the Navy is keeping track of Chinese forays into the Indian Ocean very closely. In the same breath, he said that the Indian Navy was prepared for any security challenge.
“I would like to assure the nation that Indian Navy stands ready to deal with any security challenge. We are fully confident of defending India’s maritime interests,” the navy chief added.
