In response to US President Joe Biden’s invitation, Narendra Modi is expected to attend the ‘Summit for Democracy. A virtual summit is set to take place from December 9 to December 10, and India is one of the over 100 nations invited.
During this virtual meeting on democracy, the issues of deteriorating democracy will be addressed. The top leaders are also expected to deliberate on how to protect freedom and rights.
“The virtual summit, to take place on December 9 and 10, will galvanize commitments and initiative across three principal themes: defending against authoritarianism, fighting corruption, and promoting respect for human rights,” a White House statement stated.
Ahead of the virtual summit on December 6 will be Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM) in New Delhi.
