INS Kochi, the India Navy’s indigenously designed and built guided-missile destroyer, recently participated in a joint war game with Russian warships in the Arabian Sea. In addition to tactical maneuvers, cross-deck helicopter operations, and seamanship exercises, the exercise demonstrated the cohesiveness and interoperability between the two navies.
“Indian Navy’s indigenously designed and built guided-missile destroyer, INS Kochi, exercised with Russian Federation Navy’s RFS Admiral Tribuz on 14th January 2022 in the Arabian Sea,” the Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated in a statement.
Kochi welcomed three Russian Navy ships on Thursday as part of a goodwill visit. During this visit, several professional interactions were planned between the Russian Navy and Indian Navy, as per the ministry’s statement.
Three Russian ships participated in this event: missile cruiser Varyag, destroyer Admiral Tribuz, and tanker Boris Butoma. The ships arrived at Kochi at 9 am on Thursday and were welcomed by senior naval officers in the backdrop of a fanfare by the Naval Band of the Indian Navy.
