Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh said on Monday that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) has had a constructive result on the ground but foreign militants continue to be present in Kashmir.
During a media interaction, Dilbag Singh said that three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, including a Pakistani militant Abdullah, were killed in an encounter in Sopore of northern Kashmir. The other two militants killed were identified as Mudasir Pandit and Khurshid Mir.
“Understanding regarding the ceasefire at a high level had a positive impact on the ground and we welcome it. Infiltration has been strictly monitored as well,” said Singh. However, he said that it would be incorrect to assume there are no foreign militants present in the valley. He added that many foreign militants are present on the ground and they will be gradually targeted in the coming days.
This year only two foreign militants have been killed in operations until now. Both of them were present in the Baramullah district of north Kashmir.
