A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was gunned down in a shootout with the police at Natipora area of Srinagar on Friday evening.
As per initial reports, the militant open fire upon a police team. While one militant was neutralised, the second militant managed to escape, the Jammu and Police said in a statement. The militant who was neutralised was Aqib Bashir Kumar from the Shopian district and as per his identity card which was recovered by the police, he belonged to LeT, police said.
The police have also recovered arms and ammunition from the spot. Moreover, five civilians were killed in targeted terror attacks in the valley earlier this week.
